Umbra + TO DO Compact Living product Exhibition 2016
Liz Eeuwes
In partnership with Umbra, the Umbra + TO DO Compact Living Product Exhibition explores original house ware prototypes for contemporary compact living, featuring the work of a dozen Canadian designers.
This exciting exhibition responds to half of the world’s population now living in urban centres where real estate is expensive and space is hard to come by. In Toronto alone, average condo sizes have shrunk by over 100 square feet over the last ten years. This has resulted in a trend towards making small spaces more livable and efficient. We need objects that make compact living exceptional. A jury of Umbra and TO DO representatives will recognize the best-in-show with a Best Product award, and a cash prize. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to cast their vote to award Fan Favourite. Designers from the exhibition will participate with industry leaders in a talk hosted by Paul Rowan that will explore compact living solutions and good product design.
Designers include Castor, Chifen Cheng, Liz Eeuwes, Fugitive Glue, Char Kennedy, Mercury Bureau, Oscar Kwong, Geof Ramsay, Six Point Un, Ange-line Tetrault, and TOMA.
